RICHARD F. BODDIE

Mr. Boddie is a principal in the law firm of Slocum & Boddie, P.C. concentrating in the areas of real estate financing, lender liability issues, creditor's rights and bankruptcy law, corporate law, civil litigation of real estate matters, real estate title matters and commercial litigation.  He has been practicing for over twenty years. 

Mr. Boddie has extensive litigation experience and represents various lending institutions, title insurance companies, bonding companies, mortgage firms, construction contractors, engineering firms, real estate developers, and others.  He is an approved attorney with various title insurers.  Approximately fifty percent of his practice is litigation. 

Presently Mr. Boddie is engaged in such diverse areas as sub‑development financing, tax‑oriented sales to limited and general partnerships, construction contract claims, and litigation in several jurisdictions, addressing issues such as title insurance coverage, commercial bankruptcy, and partnership disputes. 

As an attorney, Mr. Boddie has: 

  1. Participated as creditors’ counsel on multi‑million dollar bankruptcy proceedings involving real estate developers and projects.Served as trial counsel for various title insurance companies in numerous cases involving title defects, bankruptcy and probate matters, and fraudulent transfers of real property.

  2. Assisted in the development of, negotiation for, and acquisition of multi‑million dollar real property projects.

  3. Served as counsel for Bankers' International Group, Inc., an international brokerage firm, regarding financing, land acquisition and development, and bankruptcy matters.

  4. Counseled various lenders and real estate companies regarding federal and local financing requirements, land acquisition and financing, and property management.

  5. Represented attorneys in matters before various State Bar organizations.

  6. Provided expert testimony involving issues of attorney malpractice and ethical considerations and real estate matters.

Mr. Boddie is a graduate of the University of Georgia and received his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the Potomac School of Law.  He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Maryland Bar, and the Georgia State Bar, and is authorized to practice before various Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts.
